Flood Relief Appeal Launched In Cape

Mustadafin Foundation is appealing for urgent public support as severe flooding across the Western Cape leaves families displaced and communities facing growing humanitarian needs.

Mustadafin Foundation has launched an urgent public appeal for support as severe flooding continues to affect vulnerable communities across the Western Cape.

Heavy rains have displaced numerous families, leaving many households without essential belongings, including bedding, clothing, food and basic household items. Children and elderly residents remain among the most vulnerable as cold winter conditions continue across affected areas.

The organisation says its relief teams are already on the ground assisting communities, but the scale of the disaster has created an urgent need for additional humanitarian support and donations.

Mustadafin Foundation is currently appealing for blankets, warm clothing, non-perishable food items, fresh vegetables, baby products, hygiene packs and financial contributions to help strengthen ongoing relief operations.

According to the Foundation’s director, Ghairunisa Johnstone-Cassiem, many families have lost almost everything overnight as floodwaters swept through communities across the province.

The organisation says community solidarity and rapid support are critical during periods of crisis, particularly as many affected residents now face both displacement and deteriorating winter weather conditions.

Relief efforts are focused on restoring dignity, warmth and stability to families while supporting immediate humanitarian needs within flood-affected communities.

Residents, businesses and organisations are being encouraged to contribute in whatever way possible, with the Foundation emphasising that even small donations can make a meaningful difference to families facing hardship.

Donations can be delivered directly to the Foundation’s offices in Bridgetown, Cape Town, while additional support information is available via the organisation’s website and contact line.

As flood-related challenges continue across parts of the Western Cape, the appeal highlights the growing importance of coordinated community response efforts during periods of environmental and humanitarian crisis.
