Garden rooting out homelessness.

Streetscapes is a Cape Town- based gardening project seeks to uplift the homeless.  The garden is managed by the homeless, and it grows produce that is sold to local businesses. All profits made from the produce is used to pay the managers of the garden.

Nazeema Jacobs, a previously homeless woman said, “Knowing that I can create life with my hands made me feel like I am worthy of doing something”. Before joining Streetscapes, Jacobs was estranged from her family, and was victim to her vices. She believes that there are sustainable means of building a better life regardless of a person’s circumstances.
