Maziv Connects 1000 Schools Nationwide

Maziv has connected 1,000 schools to free high-speed fibre internet, marking a major milestone in closing South Africa’s digital divide and expanding access to digital education.

Maziv has reached a significant milestone in South Africa’s digital transformation journey, connecting 1,000 schools to free 1Gbps fibre internet through its Schools Project.

The initiative is designed to address unequal access to digital infrastructure by bringing reliable, high-speed connectivity directly into classrooms, enabling both teachers and learners to participate in a modern, digital learning environment.

Working alongside the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, under the leadership of Minister Solly Malatsi, Maziv continues to build partnerships that expand access to education and strengthen community resilience.

Taylor-Anne Kwong, Head of Marketing at Maziv, reflected on the achievement:

“What an incredible journey! It seems like just the other day we were celebrating our first school installation, and today we’ve officially reached 1,000 (& counting).”

She added:

“I am incredibly proud of my team and everyone involved in the Schools Project for their tireless dedication to closing the digital divide. This milestone is a direct reflection of the phenomenal leadership and the Maziv heart that drives this organisation forward every day.”

Maziv emphasised the importance of collaboration in reaching this milestone:

“Working alongside the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies… we continue to drive a shared vision of accessible learning, stronger connectivity, and more resilient communities.”

Each connected school represents more than infrastructure — it represents opportunity, access, and the ability for learners to engage with digital tools that support better educational outcomes.

As the project continues to expand beyond 1,000 schools, the focus will shift toward ensuring that connectivity translates into measurable impact in classrooms across the country.
