Isuzu Motors South Africa has unveiled a new corporate purpose and strategy, reinforcing its commitment to local manufacturing, job creation and sustainable mobility across Africa.
At its Struandale manufacturing plant in Gqeberha, Isuzu Motors South Africa outlined its transformation since becoming a standalone national operation in 2018. The company introduced its corporate philosophy, “Moving the World – For You,” positioning mobility as a driver of economic participation, logistics efficiency and community development.
The strategy reflects Isuzu’s intention to deliver reliable transport solutions while strengthening its contribution to South Africa’s industrial economy. Reliable commercial vehicles are critical to enabling trade, supporting small businesses and ensuring goods and services reach communities across the country.
Performance growth reflects the company’s expanding footprint. In 2025, Isuzu retailed more than 26,000 vehicles locally, representing a 12.2% increase year-on-year, while exporting over 5,300 vehicles to African markets. The company also retained its position as South Africa’s leading truck brand in the medium and heavy commercial vehicle segments for the 13th consecutive year.
Local manufacturing remains central to Isuzu’s long-term strategy. Its Eastern Cape operations support employment, skills development and supplier growth. A major milestone included supporting the establishment of a R750 million manufacturing facility by VSL Manufacturing in Struandale, producing body components for the ISUZU D-MAX. The facility strengthens localisation while creating skilled technical jobs and reinforcing South Africa’s automotive manufacturing capability.
The company has also expanded its regional presence, opening new dealerships and strengthening its distribution network across Southern Africa. These investments support economic activity across multiple sectors, including logistics, agriculture and construction, which rely on dependable commercial transport.
Sustainability and workforce development form part of the company’s future direction. Investments in employee training, automation and environmental practices align with global sustainability goals and support South Africa’s transition toward more efficient industrial operations.
Looking ahead, Isuzu confirmed plans to introduce new vehicle models and next-generation truck platforms, supporting evolving transport needs while maintaining its focus on reliability, localisation and long-term industrial growth.
