Electric Mobility Expands Through Partnership

Leapmotor and Drive Electric are expanding premium electric mobility in South Africa, introducing a rental fleet that blends electric driving, extended range, and practical innovation for local conditions.

Leapmotor, part of Stellantis South Africa, has partnered with boutique EV rental company Drive Electric to introduce a fleet of Leapmotor C10 REEV vehicles into South Africa’s premium electric rental market.

The partnership will expand Drive Electric’s existing fleet of electric rental and chauffeur-driven vehicles, making advanced electric mobility more accessible to consumers and corporate clients in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

“Leapmotor represents a new generation of intelligent electric vehicles that align closely with Drive Electric’s vision of premium, tech-forward mobility,” said Janus Janse van Rensburg, Head of Marketing and Sales for Leapmotor at Stellantis South Africa.

“The C10 REEV is designed around real-world electric use,” he said. “It enables full electric commuting while providing the confidence of extended range for longer journeys.”

For Drive Electric, the collaboration supports its strategy of delivering reliable electric mobility at scale.

“We chose to partner with Leapmotor because of their world-renowned innovative mobility solutions, aiming to shape the future of transport and electric mobility,” said Chris O’Connor, Founder and CEO of Drive Electric.

“For premium rental and chauffeur-driven services like ours, reliability, range and passenger experience are critical. The C10 REEV delivers on all three through top-tier comfort, advanced safety and intuitive smart technology,” O’Connor added.

The Leapmotor C10 REEV operates as a fully electric vehicle, with a petrol-powered generator extending range when required, allowing daily electric driving while reducing range anxiety on longer journeys.

By integrating extended-range electric vehicles into rental and mobility services, the partnership supports South Africa’s transition to cleaner transport while demonstrating how innovation and shared value can accelerate sustainable mobility adoption.
