Over the festive period, Cape Town has seen an increase in refuse generation as thousands of visitors flocked to our beautiful beaches and spaces. However, through the shared commitment of both residents and City staff, many neighbourhoods were able to remain clean and inviting.
‘The spirit of unity and cooperation displayed by our communities is truly commendable. Together, we can achieve monumental outcomes, ensuring that Cape Town remains a beautiful and clean city for all to enjoy,’ said Alderman Twigg.
He also recognised the hard work of City staff members during this busy time.
‘I am immensely proud of our waste management teams, whose dedication played a crucial role in maintaining our city’s cleanliness. Their hard work, combined with community vigilance, has made all the difference,’ said Alderman Twigg.
Backlogs and complaints that have been reported are receiving attention and will be attended to as soon as possible.
As we move into the new year, Alderman Twigg encourages all Cape Town residents to continue their efforts in keeping neighborhoods clean and to also organise or participate in community clean-up initiatives.
‘Together we can build upon the successes of the past and cultivate a sustainable and cleaner environment for future generations,’ said Alderman Twigg.
