‘In the last decade, Cape Town has surged ahead of other cities to become the preferred destination for international outsourcing companies. The City is proud to work closely with CapeBPO to hone the talents and skills of local youth while working to land new investments that lead to jobs,’ said Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth.

One such talent is Tamara Williams, who works for Concentrix and took home the Top Customer Service Professional award.

‘I am still in awe and truly humbled to have received this award. This recognition marks a meaningful milestone in my career and has reminded me how much I love what I do, especially making a difference by helping people. It’s also inspired me to continue mentoring my colleagues – an experience that has been so rewarding. I am sincerely grateful for the support and encouragement I’ve received throughout this journey,’ said Williams.

Concentrix also took home the prize in the Top Impact Sourcing Operation category, which refers to the intentional recruitment and employment of individuals from marginalised and undeserved communities, providing them with access to meaningful, sustainable career opportunities.

‘We’re incredibly proud of this win. This is a recognition of our commitment to creating meaningful, inclusive employment opportunities and driving social and economic impact through partnership. This achievement is a true testament to the dedication, collaboration, and innovation of our amazing team, and to the strong partnerships that make our impact possible,’ said Concentrix.

The Top BPO Operator SMME gong went to Boomerang whose CEO, Robert Joubert, said: ‘Two decades in, this recognition belongs to our people and partners who built a homegrown, proudly South African BPO with global standards. We’ll keep opening pathways to quality youth employment and exporting Cape Town service excellence.’

EXL’s Nabeelah Abrahams said receiving the award for Top Team Leader/Supervisor was a reminder of what accomplishments were really about.

‘Receiving the CapeBPO Award is recognition of the hard work, dedication, and passion I put into everything that I do. It reminded me that success is not just about results, but about the people, the support given, teamwork, and shared vision that make those results possible. This award has inspired me to continue striving for excellence while staying grounded in gratitude and purpose,’ said Abrahams.

The biggest company nod of the night – Top BPO Operator – went to TP South Africa for demonstrating consistent operational excellence and strategic leadership.

‘Winning the 2025 Top BPO Operator award honours the unity, dedication, and excellence of the entire TP South Africa family. By putting “Our People, Our Purpose” at the heart of every decision, we’ve built a thriving, resilient workplace defined by passion and quality. This achievement inspires us to keep striving together and celebrates the bonds that make our success possible,’ said Gigi Rhode, the People Senior Vice President of TP South Africa.

Clayton Williams, CEO of CapeBPO, said the sector continues to stand as a beacon of opportunity, innovation and sustained economic growth.

‘The excellence recognised at the 2025 CapeBPO Awards reflects a workforce that is globally competitive and deeply rooted in local talent development. Our vision remains unwavering: to strengthen Cape Town as a leading BPO hub while creating meaningful pathways to employment that uplift our communities and power our economy forward,’ said Clayton Williams, CEO of CapeBPO.

Alderman Vos said the CapeBPO Awards were a valuable moment to acknowledge the strides made by individuals, teams and organisations of the local industry.

‘In 2024, the industry funnelled R23 billion into the metro’s economy. Over 100 000 people now work in Cape Town-based call centres, more than double the number of employees in the province 10 years ago. This growth is in large part due to the City’s unwavering commitment to unlocking investment opportunities and the jobs that come with it. The CapeBPO Awards are all about recognising the people who fuel the metro’s shine in this industry. I encourage young Capetonians to reach out to CapeBPO to find out more about their training programmes and be part of something exciting,’ said Alderman Vos.
