Amy Foundation Celebrates Youth Success

The Amy Foundation will host its inaugural Youth Skills Development Alumni Events on 23 June and 8 July 2026, bringing together graduates, partners and supporters to celebrate youth empowerment.

The events mark a significant milestone in the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to creating sustainable pathways to employment, entrepreneurship and economic participation for young South Africans.

For the first time, graduates from different Youth Skills Development Programme cohorts will reunite to share their personal and professional journeys since completing the programme.

The alumni gatherings will showcase how targeted skills development, mentorship and industry exposure have helped young people secure employment, pursue further education and launch entrepreneurial ventures.

According to the Amy Foundation, many programme graduates have established successful careers in the hospitality and tourism sectors, while others have expanded their opportunities across a range of industries.

“Youth development does not end when a programme concludes. Our alumni are living proof that when opportunity, support and determination come together, lives are transformed,” said Hilary George, Youth Skills Development Programme Manager.

Chief Operating Officer Michelle Bagley said the events will highlight the long-term impact of youth development initiatives while recognising the partnerships that have made these achievements possible.

“Every graduate represents a story of resilience, determination and potential realised. These alumni events provide an opportunity to celebrate those achievements and demonstrate the value of sustained investment in young people,” she said.

A key focus of the gatherings will be measuring sustainable impact by reconnecting with former beneficiaries and tracking their progress beyond programme completion.

The Foundation believes this approach demonstrates how youth development contributes to improved employment outcomes, increased economic participation and stronger communities.

The Amy Foundation also acknowledged the support of Makwande Empowerment Trust, whose partnership has enabled hundreds of young people to access training, personal development opportunities and career pathways.

The events will feature alumni testimonials, networking sessions, programme reflections and discussions on how former beneficiaries can continue supporting future generations of young people.

Both events will take place at the Amy Foundation headquarters in Sybrand Park, Cape Town, from 10:00 to 12:00.

For more than two decades, the Amy Foundation has empowered young people from vulnerable communities through education, skills development, arts and culture, sport and personal growth programmes.
