SABC1 Launches Financial Literacy Talk Show

SABC1 and SABC Education have partnered with the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) to launch Future Proof, a new intervention talk show focused on financial literacy and retirement readiness for public servants.

Hosted by broadcaster Samora Mangesi, the weekly programme simplifies pension fund processes and jargon while creating space for members and beneficiaries to share real experiences navigating claims and accessing benefits.

“I am deeply honoured to be part of conversations that help South Africans plan better for their golden years,” said Mangesi. “This chapter allows me to use my voice to inform and educate while helping change lives.”

The show aims to strengthen financial awareness by equipping viewers with practical knowledge on GEPF benefits throughout their careers. Topics include the Two-Pot Retirement System, child pension benefits, funeral benefits, and key differences between retirement and resignation.

Each episode combines expert insight from GEPF professionals with real-life case studies to address common challenges faced by members and highlight the value of informed financial planning.

Through its focus on access, education and empowerment, Future Proof positions financial literacy as a critical social impact issue, supporting public servants in making confident decisions about their long-term financial security.
