Windmill facilitates education for underprivileged learners

Sun International’s Windmill Casino has assisted needly learners through the provision of books, planting of Karee trees and recycling bins.

The donation was made to learners at Batho Primary School, which is situated in Bloemfontein’s Batho Township, the oldest existing township in our judicial capital. The school has 641 learners from Grade R to seven.

Windmill held a tree planting ceremony at Batho Primary School to commemorate September’s Arbor Month and also handed out books on renewable energy (wind) for Literacy Month. 100 Grade six and seven learners received books.

“This project is part of our Adopt a School programme and will assist the school with embedding environmentally friendly practices,” says Windmill General Manager, Johan Oosthuizen. “We are humbled to be able to contribute to learners’ education and knowledge of our environment.”

The casino also donated recycling bins for the school’s recycling programme, which will enable the school to increase recycling and generate income.
