Sun City keeps community safe and clean

Sun City, a Sun International resort, has teamed up with the Moses Kotane Local Municipality and other local community partners to ensure that the Mogwase Shopping Complex and surrounding areas are clean and safe.

The fast-developing Mogwase town is located close to Sun City and the Pilanesberg and relies on tourism and platinum mining in the area to keep its citizens gainfully employed. However, pockets of the community have become terribly poor and unsatisfactory due to a lack of consistent maintenance of critical zones and service delivery at large.

On 13 August, Sun City, the Moses Kotane Local Municipality (MKLM), the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), Department of Health, MKLM’s Waste and Biodiversity Unit joined forces to ensure that the municipality is safe and clean.

The project forms part of an overall safe and clean city campaign, which is undertaken each Friday. It brings together professionals from government entities/departments, the business sector, as well as traditional authorities and civil society and is the industry’s voice.

In the most recent undertaking, the teams visited and inspected different shops and stalls around the Mogwase shopping complex to ensure that they comply, also they checked if shops complied with all the Covid-19 protocols such as wearing of face masks, sanitizing hands and waste disposal.

In addition, waste that needed to be picked up was disposed of in a hygienic manner.Different stakeholders interacted with communities and shared information on several services they provide to communities.
