Trevor Noah Foundation launches leadership programme in SA

The Trevor Noah Foundation and the YALI Regional Leadership Centre Southern Africa (YALI RLC-SA) have launched a joint investment called The Education Changemakers leadership training programme. The two organizations will be is giving fifty young leaders from 13 countries across Southern Africa a chance to build robust leadership skills who will make a difference in their schools and communities. Furthermore, they will be supported with appropriate resources.

The Education Changemakers programme is made up of two phases. Firstly, the participants will complete four weeks of intensive leadership training applying business and public management tools for the education sector. This will be followed by six months of post-graduate coaching and mentoring. The programme will be housed at Unisa SBL from 10 February to 6 March 2020.

Trevor Noah is so much more than just a comedian, he is also a writer, political commentator and the Host of The Daily Show. He established The Trevor Noah Foundation to equip marginalized youth with education, life skills, and social capital and give them an opportunity to become resilient future leaders of South Africa. “For me, I’ve come to realize the secret is great teachers. In my life and the lives of many other kids, one great teacher has made all the difference,” said Trevor Noah, Chairman of the Foundation.

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) was launched by the United States of America Government as a signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. Since its inception in 2015, the YALI RLC-SA has transformed the lives of over 4600 young African leaders directly, while the alumni initiatives have influenced thousands more.
