Shoprite brings festive cheer to Langa learners

Over 150 learners from the VUSA Rugby & Learning Academy in Langa were treated to a festive celebration hosted by Shoprite this past weekend.

The event was the first of numerous celebrations that Shoprite and Checkers are hosting for thousands of children and elderly at daycare centres, children’s homes and care facilities across the country as the year draws to a close.

The learners were treated to a lunch of boerewors rolls, cold drinks, donuts and ice-cream. They also received goodies bags containing rugby balls, stationery bags, Christmas crackers, party hats and more.

VUSA promotes social upliftment among under-privileged children through sports and academics.Shoprite first partnered with the organisation in 2017 and has been supporting the learners with weekly meals ever since.

“The annual festive celebration hosted by Shoprite is something that our learners look forward to every year, and we truly appreciate the retailer’s ongoing support of our academy,” said Makabongwe Kahla, VUSA’s head coach.
