UWC Sport Administration is launching its first dedicated website, creating a central digital platform to connect students, clubs, facilities and sporting communities online.
The University of the Western Cape’s Sport Administration Department is entering a new digital chapter with the launch of its first dedicated website, marking a significant milestone for the institution’s sporting community.
Launching at noon on Friday, 8 May 2026, the platform will serve as a central online hub for UWC Sport, bringing together fixtures, club information, facilities, events, governance resources and departmental news in one accessible digital space.
The department oversees a broad sporting ecosystem that includes competitive sport development, campus recreation programmes, student governance systems and partnerships with external sporting organisations. While these activities have continued to grow over the years, the department has until now lacked a single, official online platform dedicated entirely to sport administration and engagement.
For Elmien Cloete, Director of Sport at UWC, the website represents more than a technical development. It reflects the institution’s wider commitment to visibility, inclusivity and student development.
According to Cloete, the new platform will help showcase the work already happening across the university’s sporting environment while creating easier access for current and prospective students seeking information and opportunities within UWC Sport.
The website was developed under the leadership of UWC Sport Brand and Projects Coordinator Skhu Rashid Nkomphela and his team, who focused on translating the university’s energetic “Blue and Gold” sporting identity into a functional and engaging digital experience.
The launch also builds on UWC Sport’s growing digital presence under the #WeAreCaracals banner, which has already attracted more than 36,000 followers across social media platforms. The website is expected to act as a central anchor connecting the department’s digital storytelling, community engagement and recruitment efforts.
Timed ahead of the university’s Open Day on 9 May, the launch positions the department to welcome prospective students with a more organised and accessible online experience. For many students considering tertiary study, sport remains an important part of campus life, and the new platform aims to strengthen that connection from the very first interaction.
Beyond fixtures and club information, the website will also reflect the department’s broader values, including transparency, professionalism, ethics, fair play and holistic student development. It is expected to become a gateway to every aspect of the UWC sporting experience — from high-performance programmes and recreation to facilities and institutional partnerships.
As the platform officially goes live, UWC Sport Administration steps into a more connected future, strengthening how its sporting community engages, grows and shares its story both on and off the field.
