Reach For A Dream Announces Dream Raffle Car Winner

Reach For A Dream has confirmed that its 2025 Dream Raffle has generated funding for 265 dream interventions for children living with life-threatening illnesses, following the near sell-out of 10 000 raffle tickets nationwide.

The announcement was made at a public draw held at Rosebank Mall this week, where Gordon from KwaZulu-Natal was selected as the winner of the main prize, a Jetour X70 Plus Momentum seven-seater SUV. The vehicle was valued at R454 900 and supplied through a corporate partnership with Jetour South Africa.

While the draw produced a single winner, the organisation says the primary outcome lies in the scale of service delivery now made possible. Proceeds from the raffle will be used to fulfil 265 personalised dreams for children undergoing intensive medical treatment across South Africa.

Reach For A Dream works with hospitals, caregivers and healthcare professionals to deliver structured dream experiences to children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. These interventions are designed to provide psychological relief, emotional motivation and moments of normality during prolonged treatment cycles.

Chief Executive Officer Julia Sotirianakos said the 2025 raffle represents the strongest performance in the organisation’s history. She confirmed that selling almost every available ticket allows the foundation to plan dream delivery with greater certainty and reach more children than in previous years.

The foundation positions its dream-granting work as a form of psychosocial support that complements medical care, rather than a symbolic or once-off gesture. According to the organisation, demand for these services continues to rise as healthcare systems remain under pressure and families face increasing emotional and financial strain.

Jetour South Africa said its involvement in the raffle was driven by a focus on outcome-based partnerships. The company stated that the vehicle sponsorship enabled the foundation to maximise fundraising returns while maintaining a clear link between public participation and measurable impact.

The raffle outcome comes at a time when many non-profit organisations are struggling with donor fatigue, rising operating costs and increased demand for services. Reach For A Dream’s model, which combines public participation with corporate support, is cited by the organisation as a way to generate predictable and auditable social outcomes.

Planning for the next Dream Raffle cycle is already underway, with the foundation indicating that it aims to exceed the current intervention count.

Reach For A Dream continues to operate year-round, with programmes extending beyond the annual raffle. Further information on its work and how to support its initiatives is available at reachforadream.org.za.
