Cape Town’s global appeal continues to shine after receiving top international recognition from both Travel and Leisure Asia and the U.S. News & World Report, placing the Mother City firmly among the world’s most desirable travel destinations this year.
Travel and Leisure Asia announced the winners of its India’s Best Awards 2025, where Cape Town was nominated in three major categories: Best Beach Destination, Best City Destination and Best Adventure Destination. The city went on to secure the Editor’s Choice Best City in the International Category, highlighting its unique mix of natural beauty, culture and adventure that attracts visitors from around the world.
On the same day, the U.S. News & World Report released its Best Vacations list, ranking Cape Town as the fifth Best Place to Visit in Africa. The publication cited the city’s dramatic scenery, pristine beaches, the Constantia Valley wine region and the iconic Simon’s Town penguin colony as key reasons for its high ranking. This recognition earned Cape Town a Gold Award Badge of Excellence.
Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, Alderman James Vos, welcomed the accolades, noting their significance as the city heads into the busy festive tourism season.
“There’s something for everyone in Cape Town, from ocean experiences to the trails of Table Mountain and everything in between. These recognitions arrive at the perfect time, as tourists from across the globe choose Cape Town for their holidays,” he said.
Vos added that the awards reflect focused efforts to unlock priority tourism markets, including recent engagements in India with travel operators and media to build partnerships and targeted campaigns.
“By promoting the right mix of experiences and aligning our marketing with demand, we ensure that tourism growth delivers real economic benefits. These awards show that Cape Town’s international marketing campaigns are resonating with travellers worldwide, creating jobs and stimulating the local economy,” he said.
The accolades reinforce Cape Town’s reputation as a world-class destination and underline its continued commitment to growing a sustainable, inclusive tourism economy that benefits residents and businesses alike.
