A community-led campaign across Hyprop’s Gauteng shopping centres has raised more than R24,000 in cash and goods for animal welfare — celebrating compassion, community spirit, and the lasting legacy of Nicole Greenstone.
The Warm Woodrock Campaign, run by the Hyprop Foundation from July to August 2025, called on shoppers to donate blankets, pet food, and other essentials to support Woodrock Animal Rescue, one of South Africa’s oldest independent pro-life shelters. The initiative not only helped animals in need but also paid tribute to Greenstone, whose lifelong commitment to animal care inspired the campaign.
In total, donations amounted to R18,863.75 in goods and R6,043.00 in monetary contributions, including direct QR code donations to Woodrock.
“Our hearts are full,” said Leonie Prinsloo from the Hyprop Foundation. “This campaign was built on love for Nicole, for animals, and for community. Thanks to every person who gave, we’ve not only honoured Nicole’s memory but provided real, tangible support to animals that desperately need it.”
Each of Hyprop’s Gauteng-based centres participated, helping the Foundation achieve one of its most successful community-driven initiatives to date:
-
Woodlands Shopping Centre led the drive with total contributions of R6,106.90, including R3,968.90 in goods and R2,138.00 in cash.
-
The Glen Shopping Centre followed with R6,273.00, combining R2,368.00 in goods, R55.00 in cash, and R3,850.00 through QR code donations.
-
Clearwater Mall collected R3,743.00, including R3,393.00 in goods and R350.00 in cash.
-
Rosebank Mall contributed R2,464.85 in goods.
-
Hyde Park Corner added R6,669.00 worth of product donations.
The campaign also featured interactive caricature sessions where donors received personalised sketches of themselves and their pets as a token of appreciation. These lighthearted moments helped raise awareness and fostered a sense of connection across participating malls.
“Nicole poured her heart into caring for those without a voice,” Prinsloo added. “Through Warm Woodrock, her legacy has reached far beyond the workplace. It has sparked a ripple of generosity and empathy across Hyprop’s malls.”
Woodrock Animal Rescue, located in Gauteng, relies solely on public donations and community partnerships to continue its work rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming vulnerable animals. The funds and supplies collected through the campaign will help the organisation continue to provide food, shelter, and medical care to hundreds of animals in its care.
The Hyprop Foundation, the Corporate Social Investment arm of Hyprop Investments, said the success of the Warm Woodrock campaign reflects the Foundation’s broader mission: creating spaces where compassion, collaboration, and community impact come together.
