Every South African football star has a beginning. Long before professional contracts and packed stadiums, many first discovered the game on dusty community fields, using four bricks as goalposts and dreaming of something bigger.
It is this shared South African story that inspired Build it’s iPali campaign, “Where the Game Begins,” celebrating the communities, informal pitches and grassroots programmes that nurture young football talent.
Central to the campaign is Build it’s 230 U13 Football Tournaments across Southern Africa, which provide thousands of young players with opportunities to showcase their skills, compete at provincial and national level, and believe their dreams can become reality.
For nearly two decades, the tournament has offered far more than competitive football. It has created pathways for development, mentorship and personal growth while strengthening the communities that help young people realise their potential.

Each year, the Build it U13 Football Tournaments engage thousands of young footballers across Southern Africa in a structured environment where they not only develop sporting ability but also learn teamwork, discipline, resilience and leadership.
