600 Homes Bring New Hope

The City of Cape Town has handed over more homes at the R170 million Dido Valley housing development, benefiting families from Redhill in Simon’s Town and the Luyolo community.

The Dido Valley project will ultimately deliver 600 housing opportunities, helping residents transition from informal settlements into secure homes while supporting long-term community stability.

“Our teams have worked hard to deliver these opportunities and we celebrate with the families as they move into their new homes. The City will continue to hand over opportunities as homes are completed, with full project completion expected by June 2028, if all goes to plan,” said Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Carl Pophaim.

The project forms part of the City’s ongoing efforts to provide dignified housing opportunities and improve living conditions for qualifying beneficiaries.

The City has also reminded residents that legitimate housing opportunities are provided free of charge. Applicants are never required to pay to be listed on the Housing Needs Register or to receive housing allocation.

Residents are encouraged to confirm any housing-related communication directly through official City channels and to report suspicious activity.

Suspected fraud can be reported via the Fraud Hotline at 0800 32 31 30 or by email at fraud.hotline@capetown.gov.za.

The Human Settlements Call Centre can be contacted on 021 444 0333 during business hours (Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 16:30).
