Edu-Supply aims to save parents from stationery shopping blues

It’s that time of the year where parents are running around, buying uniforms and stationery for their children. In an effort to help parents and schools across SA purchase stationery for pupils without the hassle of long queues at bookshops and stores,Soma Solutions has launched a new online platform for stationery shopping.

“Stationery shopping can be a headache for parents, particularly when it is back-to-school time. Most parents prefer to buy stationery early in the year, and during this time they often find that the stationery they are looking for has run out or they simply do not have the time to go shopping. Edu-Supply is the best solution to this problem,” said Soma Solutions in a statement.

Established in 2008, Soma Solutions is a black female-owned company which focuses on developing and implementing digitally-driven solutions for SMMEs and large enterprises. Radebe said she wanted this online initiative to reduce the pressures that parents face when it is time for pupils to go back to school.

“The pain as a mother motivated me to come up with Edu-Supply. I have four kids. I would have a stationery list for this one [child], I would be short with this and it will take me a whole month to get the stationery. This store would be short of this and that other store would be short of that. I would be forced to go from store to store looking for stationery,” Marilyn Radebe Radebe, Founder of Soma Solutions.

“The aim is to leverage the digital platform economy by digitalizing the purchase of stationery. As a parent, I fully understand the frustrations that parents across SA face when it’s back-to-school time. We are launching this platform to solve that problem and help save parents time,” added the 39-year-old.

Edu-Supply has received more than 100 orders for stationery from parents and 60 orders from schools, making one delivery to a parent in the process. Edu-Supply sources its stationery from two local suppliers in Gauteng.
Parents can send their children’s stationery lists to customerservice@edu-supply.com or upload it on their website at www.edu-supply.com and have the stationary sent to you directly.
