The 2018 Cape Town Cycle Tour will take place as planned and it will be more water-wise than ever before, organisers have confirmed.
This comes after false rumors within the cycling community that the event has been cancelled due to the Cape drought crisis.
Cape Town Cycle Tour Director David Bellairs says the annual event aims to reduce its water footprint to zero.
Bellairs explains how the organisers plan to use reduce water consumption, from ablution to hospitality.
He says water hydration sachets will be distributed at the Cape Town Cycle Tour in a bid to curb pollution.

We’re looking at desalinated water, the use of grey water and we’re bringing in spring water from out of town for folks to fill up water bottles at the start of the event.

The Cape Town Cycle Tour will be staged on Sunday 11 March.
