Bosso players receive foodstuffs as donation.

Benjamin Mwaruwari, former Man City player has given out food donations to Old Magwegwe Highlanders players who have been finding it hard to make ends meet during the pandemic.

The former warriors captain donated foodstuffs to 900 families in the same week at Old Magwegwe. He also went on to donate to his fellow soccer mates playing for Highlanders. The soccer club has been facing difficulties in paying its players and has sought help from different sponsors since the beginning of the lockdown pandemic.

Mwaruwari has been one of the people who responded to the teams needs when they needed his help the most. The same donations given to families are the same hampers that the players received. Each player received 10kg bag of maize meal, 750ml of cooking oil and a 500 gramme packet of sugar beans.

All these donations made by Mwaruwari where to help the beneficiaries get through the COVID-19 hardships. Mwaruwari’s brother Chris said they knew how hard the situation was for everyone during the COVID-19. He said this while handing over the donations at Marisha Ground in Old Magwegwe.

“We know the difficult situation that players are facing in this current period when the game is on hold and we are aware Highlanders recently lost a sponsor and those mainly affected are the players, so we felt compelled to give them something. Zulu Chiefs is Benjani’s former social soccer club and the hampers were given to players and supporter,” said Chris.
