A global humanitarian initiative led by Dr Lidwine Meffo is expanding education access, empowering women and supporting sustainable development partnerships across Africa and emerging economies.
Dr Lidwine Meffo, founder and president of The Smile Foundations, is advancing a mission focused on education, women’s empowerment and long-term sustainable development through community partnerships and collaborative leadership.
The Smile Foundations works to strengthen self-reliance and expand opportunity by supporting learning, skills development and empowerment initiatives designed to help individuals and families move from vulnerability toward long-term stability.
Central to the organisation’s approach is the belief that education and confidence-building are among the most powerful tools to break cycles of poverty and inequality, particularly in communities where access to resources remains limited.
Beyond programme implementation, Dr Meffo has also contributed to youth development through authorship, publishing educational and motivational books that encourage young people to pursue personal growth, knowledge and purpose. This work is particularly significant in rural communities where access to educational resources may be constrained.
The organisation continues to collaborate with community leaders, volunteers and international partners to deliver programmes that create lasting social impact. Maintaining continuity in humanitarian work remains critical, particularly in areas where long-term engagement is required to rebuild confidence and restore opportunity.
Logistical and funding challenges remain part of the humanitarian landscape, including the coordination required to transport donated educational and medical supplies to communities in need. The Smile Foundations is currently working to mobilise resources to deliver two containers of donated materials to Africa.
As part of efforts to strengthen global collaboration, Dr Meffo will present the initiative “No One Left Behind” at a United Nations platform designed to connect leaders, innovators and changemakers working to expand opportunities for women and youth worldwide.
The organisation is also exploring partnerships across public and private sectors to support sustainable development initiatives, including collaboration models such as Public–Private Partnerships and Government-to-Government programmes.
Partnerships with organisations including African Hope Communittee, Geracao Tropicana, Inward Fitness and DSW Coaching demonstrate a shared commitment to advancing empowerment, resilience and well-being through collaborative action.
Looking ahead, The Smile Foundations aims to expand leadership training programmes for women and girls, strengthen financial independence initiatives and develop sustainable approaches to addressing hunger and food insecurity.
Through education-focused initiatives and collaborative partnerships, the organisation continues working toward building an ecosystem of opportunity that supports long-term community resilience and inclusive development.
