Khayelitsha Animal Clinic calls Runners to #RunForRescues

The Mdzananda Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha is excited to announce that they are registered as one of the charity beneficiaries of the 2024 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, taking place this October 2024. This marathon, renowned for its scenic route, rich cultural highlights, and the vibrant spirit of Cape Town, provides runners with an unparalleled experience through one of Africa’s most iconic cities.

In 2023, 44 committed supporters came together with their communities to raise an impressive R24,501 for the sick, injured and homeless animals of Khayelitsha. This year, they are setting their sights even higher, aiming to double, if not triple, that amount.

“We have set a high goal,” says Marcelle du Plessis, Fundraising and Communications Executive, “but we believe that, with the public’s support, we can achieve it. In 2023 we served over 17 000 community pets who would otherwise have had no access to medical care and all funds raised will go directly to serving the animals. Join the movement and make a difference.”

By choosing to run for Mdzananda Animal Clinic, you will be directly helping to save and improve the lives of countless animals in their care. Here’s how you can get involved:

  1. Pledge to #RunForRescues: Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or a first-time runner, there is a race for everyone! Choose from any of the marathon events and experience the most beautiful marathon route in the world.
  2. Buy a Ticket: Purchase your marathon ticket through Mdzananda Animal Clinic, wear something orange to show your support, and encourage your friends and family to sponsor your run.
  3. Already Have a Ticket?: You can still make a difference! Sign up to raise funds for Mdzananda Animal Clinic by contacting Kelly Arendse on fund@mdzananda.co.za

“Every step you take and every meter you conquer will help us reach our goal of providing care, shelter, and hope to the animals who need it most,” says Kelly Arendse, Fundraiser. “Let’s make 2024 our best year yet. Run for rescues, run for hope, and run for the lives of animals. Together, we can make a difference.”
