#EmPowerGrowth Debuts in Times Square

A bold new campaign is lighting up Times Square and sparking conversations worldwide about the role of energy in shaping a fairer, greener future. Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) has launched the #EmPowerGrowth initiative, a multi-year drive to mobilize investment, partnerships, and collective action around clean energy.

Timed to coincide with Climate Week NYC and the 80th United Nations General Assembly, the campaign is designed to position clean energy not only as a climate solution but also as the foundation for inclusive economic transformation.

The #EmPowerGrowth campaign has four main ambitions:

  • Create a global platform where business leaders, innovators, and young people collaborate on clean energy solutions.

  • Unlock the financing needed to expand access and accelerate a just transition.

  • Reframe energy as the engine of green growth and industrialisation.

  • Convert global awareness into meaningful collective action.

The launch included a high-energy livestream featuring voices from across generations and industries, including Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Octopus Energy Generation; Joshua Amponsen, Co-Executive Director of the Youth Climate Justice Fund; Sherry Kennedy, SEforALL’s Director of Communications; and Evelyn Fahlen, a graduate student at Columbia University.

Speaking at the launch, SEforALL’s CEO and UN Special Representative, Damilola Ogunbiyi, stressed the urgency of the campaign: “Developing countries are at risk of being left behind. They require collective action to meet their targets – in the form of capacity building and resource mobilization. Our new campaign, EmPower, carries the spirit of collective action. Its call to the world is simple but urgent: Empower Growth.”

SEforALL, hosted by UNOPS, continues to work with governments and partners to accelerate progress on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate resilience in developing countries.
