City bursaries application deadline looms

The application window for City bursaries closes this Friday, 10 October 2025. The City of Cape Town’s Training and Development Department is offering financial support to students that live in Cape Town and are registered at accredited academic institutions including TVET Colleges within the borders of South Africa. The bursaries cover registration, tuition and examination fees as well as capped allowances for study-aid, transport and meals.

The City is always on the lookout for new talent and I am pleased to extend an invitation to all Cape Town-based candidates who are currently studying at a tertiary institution or who have been accepted at one. Apply now! Bursary applications will be assessed on academic merit as well as against the City’s scarce skills list of needs. The bursaries come with a year-for-a-year service obligation period, which will ensure graduates also gain hands-on work experience once they have graduated,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, Alderman Theresa Uys.
