Amid the pandemic, Soup Kitchen 411 is helping feed the hungry across New Jersey in various cities while also supporting local restaurants that have been badly hit by the pandemic.
The Soup Kitchen has been helping out through their FeedNJ initiative, a project that is currently combating the food insecurity in America.
While giving a statement as to how the soup kitchen began, Kenneth DeRoberts, Chairman and Co-founder of Soup Kitchen 411 said: “With the onset of the pandemic, the increase in hunger challenges has grown significantly, so we needed to do something to help.”
The ‘FeedNJ stop hunger’ campaign is also collecting donations from individuals, small businesses, and large corporations to increase the food in feeding the hungry that include orphanage houses and the homeless.
Meals are being provided in cities like Long Branch, Paterson, Elizabeth, Trenton, and Morristown. The programme has also allowed Shane Gerald, owner of Fast Break Café in Paterson, New Jersey, to keep helping the community while also staying in business with his restaurant.
“Most people have no understanding or appreciation for the magnitude of the hunger population. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Soup Kitchen 411’s FeedNJ program has distributed over 17,000 meals across New Jersey,” said DeRoberts.
“We see so many people that really need a helping hand right now. So we are just trying to do our part and feed our community,” concluded DeRoberts.
