Ā About SOS Childrenā€™s Village

The first SOS Childrenā€™s Village was built in Ennerdale in 1984. The Village comprises 15 homes, where children live with their house mothers in a family setting. The children are placed in the care of the home when they are without adequateĀ parental care or at risk of losing it, who are living in vulnerable circumstances. Ā

We believe every child belongs in a family and should grow up with love, respect and security. We provide care through our family-like villages, our family strengthening programmes and our community service centres. We build families for children in need, we help them shape their own futures, and we share in the development of their communitiesā€.

Ā The SOS Childrenā€™s Villages South Africa have grown to 11 programmes in 8 provinces around South Africa.
