Addressing the need to support the socio-economic landscape in the local communities we operate, PPC has provided blankets, toiletries, sanitary towels, toys and stationery valued at R116 000 to women and children at the Alpha Trauma Centre. Committed to empowering the community through the PPC CSI initiative, the donation gives the community sustainable value that encourages them to experience a better quality of life.
Alpha Trauma Centre helps abused women, children and rape victims. The Centre’s main focus is on abused children under the age of 12. They assess these children for the South African Police Service to ensure the trauma is reported correctly and the facts of the trauma are true and correct to ensure prosecution of the perpetrators. Through working in local primary schools and the community of Sedibeng, Midvaal and Heidelberg; the Centre is also able to reach more abuse victims ensuring that more healing of these victims takes place. Working with youth in conflict with the law also ensures that the Centre educates the youth on crime and prevention.
Christo Horn, Plant Manager at PPC RSA explained, “We as PPC were in awe of how they demonstrated that together we are stronger. We are aware of the role the donation in promoting the well-being and social progress in the lives of our communities, we took this step to empower Alpha Trauma Centre providing the basic necessities to the Centre”.
The contribution to Alpha Trauma Centre forms part of PPC’s efforts to empower South African women and future leaders. As a business that has been recognized for driving women in mining and production of cement and materials, PPC’s contribution forms part of its efforts to make a difference in the lives of women and children across the country.
