While the benefits of hiring persons with disabilities may be widely acknowledged, demystifying and highlighting the largely marginalised disability sector as well as the sourcing and accessing of relevant skills within this sector often continue to pose a challenge.
On Friday 23 October, the Disability Summit and Work Expo 2020 event brings together hundreds of skilled learners, associations, and business in one virtual space to address these very challenges. 6 schools in Gauteng, 1 in Bloemfontein and 2 in Mpumalanga, listed below, will benefit from a Work Readiness Programme.
Preparing for the world of work
This programme which runs from 08H00 until 12H00 includes hearing from inspirational South African entrepreneurs, an insightful talk on access to university for students with disabilities, everything you need to know about navigating the pathway to employment as an individual with a disability, a guide to drafting a CV and a talk about preparing for the world of work.
Live cross overs to each school from a central studio will see war cries, and Q&A and interaction with sponsors and corporates taking place. Students at all schools are also receiving goodie bags, stationary and lunch hampers. Corporates will also engage each school on programmes, opportunities and initiatives that they each have.
All content will be interpreted by sign language interpreters from eDeaf.
