30 dynamic participants will develop innovations for the first time to SA healthcare challenges

Could 30 dynamic minds hold the answers for South Africa’s health challenges?

Participants in the Innovation Think Tank (ITT) Certification Programme being conducted by Regent Business School from 5 – 13 September 2022 will see best how to solve South Africa’s health woes.

Regent Business School will be first South African private higher education institution to host the programme in partnership with Siemens Healthineers.

The hybrid event comes at an opportune moment, when the world at large is recovering and rethinking the many healthcare challenges unmasked during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The programme will be attended by a diverse group of individuals, including medical and allied healthcare professionals, computer scientists, innovation experts, information and healthcare technologists, and under- and postgraduate students.

Dr Nivisha Parag, Head of School for Healthcare Management at Regent Business School said:

“The theme of the programme is ‘Frugal Innovation Approaches to Healthcare Challenges in the African Healthcare Market’. Frugal innovation is exactly what resource-constrained environments like South Africa which requires to move the dire state of healthcare forward, by reducing the complexity and costs of developing solutions to problems.

“Participants will be exposed to the voices of key opinion leaders in the healthcare industry, highlighting the most pressing healthcare challenges, and mentored through the innovation think tank methodology developed by Siemens Healthineers to generate feasible solutions to chosen problem areas.”

The participants will be guided by Professor Sultan Haider at the Siemens ITT Headquarters in Germany and supported by global ITT infrastructure leaders who will grace Regent Business School in Durban with their presence for the duration of the programme.

Dr Parag added that the programme will conclude with participant groups presenting projects to a jury of distinguished guests, academics and researchers, and winning projects will be exhibited with awarded prizes on 13 September 2022.
