TEARS Highlights Feral Cats for Adoption

TEARS Animal Rescue has launched a heartwarming new campaign, “From Forgotten to Family,” aimed at finding loving homes for feral and semi-feral cats who have made remarkable progress through the organisation’s rehabilitation programme.

These cats, once too frightened to approach anyone, are now stepping out of the shadows — thanks to months of patient care and compassion from the TEARS team. Cats like Ommi and Bebe, two long-haired calicos, now greet caregivers with confidence, while Dobby, a once-hiding ginger boy, has learned to trust and enjoy gentle affection.

“Many people overlook feral cats because they assume they can’t be affectionate,” says Mandy Store, TEARS Operations Manager. “But these cats have come such a long way. They may never be lap cats, yet they can absolutely thrive in the right homes — especially quiet households, secure gardens, or farms where they can safely explore.”

The campaign highlights the importance of giving feral and semi-feral cats a second chance. Often misunderstood, these animals form deep, loyal bonds once they feel secure. TEARS Co-Founder and Director Marilyn Hoole says the goal is to challenge perceptions and show that love comes in many forms.

“With patience and respect for their boundaries, ferals become devoted companions in their own way,” she explains. “The bond you build with a once-forgotten cat is something truly special.”

Through “From Forgotten to Family,” TEARS hopes to connect potential adopters with these resilient cats — including bonded pairs like Robin and Lexy, or AB and Sylvester — who are ready to start new chapters in homes filled with understanding and kindness.
