USAID Deploys Humanitarian Advisors to Support the Response to Wildfires in Australia

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is deploying four expert advisors from its Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance to support the response to the ongoing wildfires in the Commonwealth of Australia. USAID is also providing $100,000 in humanitarian assistance to support emergency-response efforts in affected areas.

USAID’s support comes in addition to the work of the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), which has been coordinating the deployment of personnel from the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), including the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), to assist with efforts to suppress the Australian wildfires.

USAID’s advisors will assess humanitarian needs, and will help identify and coordinate response priorities in support of the Government of Australia.
