The Trust Blu Foundation, a social impact non-profit organisation (NPO) within JSE-listed Blue Label Telecoms, has provided data and airtime to Afrika Tikkun to support its primary healthcare workers during the national COVID-19 lockdown and beyond. This builds on Blue Label’s longstanding relationship with Afrika Tikkun, an NPO dedicated to the reduction of youth unemployment in South Africa.
Afrika Tikkun’s healthcare workers support communities in disadvantaged areas with health information and services. During this period of physical distancing, they will continue with a programme of house visits to ensure the wellbeing of vulnerable children and their families. The assistance includes sharing of educational content regarding the virus and the national efforts to contain the effects of the pandemic.
Afrika Tikkun is also working with the police, local communities, local councillors, and other NPOs to ease the delivery of food parcels and health advice to people in need. Afrika Tikkun staff will receive personal protection equipment, to ensure their health and safety. They will continue to receive nutritional meals at Afrika Tikkun centres.
