World Rugby, in partnership with HSBC, has produced a four-part docuseries, The Remarkables, to celebrate four players in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series who have overcome tremendous obstacles to become the professional rugby players they are today.
One of the players featured in this series is South African rugby player, Ronald Brown, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2019. Fast forward to 2022, he’s now back on the field, and playing his best rugby. In the last HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, Ronald even scored a hat-trick against USA in Dubai, leading him to be crowned HSBC Player of the Final.
This episode, which is part four of the docuseries, documents Ronald’s inspiring story of surviving cancer, as we hear from his friends, coaches, doctors, and family, as well as Ronald himself.
In other episodes of The Remarkables, episode one focuses on Jodie Ounsley, a profoundly deaf England rugby sevens player; episode two looks at Ireland Rugby Sevens rising star Jordan Conroy; and episode three tells the story of Dennis Ombachi’s journey with bipolar disorder.
