Motor company gives away mobile generators to healthcare services

Honda and The Gift of the Givers Foundation have donated high quality, reliable, mobile generators to support South African healthcare services during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Hospitals are facing a serious surge in demand due to the impact of Covid-19. Having reliable electricity is absolutely critical. These generators supplied by Honda will allow us to respond to hospital requests as the need arises, multiplying the impact of the donation in terms of lives saved,” said Gift of the Givers founder, Dr. Imtiaz Sooliman,

The Gift of the Givers Foundation will coordinate the logistics involved in moving the generators to health services locations in need. The generators are robust, low-weight and fully mobile, allowing for the provision of emergency generation capacity at comparatively short notice. Each generator can power a range of essential equipment for 5.8 hours of continuous operation.

Dinesh Govender, Maneral manager of Corporate and Automobiles at Honda Motor Southern Africa said: “We understand that the world – and South Africa – faces unprecedented challenges as a result of the pandemic. We all have to do what we can to assist one another, especially when we’re dealing with issues of life and death. Having emergency generating capacity available at the right time and place will save lives, and Honda is very grateful to be able to make a contribution.”
