Thabo Mbeki continues on the African renaissance vision

Former president of South Africa Thabo Mbeki  will host the African leaders forum in Boksburg on the East Rand of Gauteng from the 24-25 of August.

The event will feature 8 head of states from African countries including Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, Namibia’s deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Co-operation Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah and Former President of Tanzania, Benjamin Mkapa, who will be in South Africa for the first time.Former deputy finance minister Mcebisi Jonas will also partake in the forum where he will speak on the matter of inclusiveness on African political architecture.

Reports from the forum state that Mbeki posed a question of why countries which have natural resources have prolonged conflicts and who is benefiting from this?

Other issues to be discussed includes Africa’s position in global peace and security. The meeting of heads of state also takes place amid Angola’s crucial elections.

It remains who be seen who is likely to succeed current President Jose Do Santos who has been at the helm for 38 years. Dos Santo earlier this year indicated he will not be running for the elections this time around.
