Hope Givers Foundation in Partnership with Brand South Africa; Premier Office Youth Directorate, Government Departments, Municipalities, Businesses, Human Rights Commissions, Gender Based organisation, Personalities and Churches will be hosting the 2nd Annual Gala Dinner at Peter Mokaba Stadium on the 22 June 2019.
This event is aimed at raising awareness about embracing and supporting a boy child. The initiative will also highlight great contributions by boys /males in communities. Through this campaign, we want to reach more boys in need and grow participation of our life-changing, outcome-driven programs to transform the future of our boys in communities. By providing our boys with a platform where they can address day to day issues affecting them, we have the opportunity to significantly impact their lives and reverse negative trends – but we can’t do it alone. We need business and government to partner with us.
400 Boys from 5 districts of Limpopo will be in attendance as beneficiaries on this Raising Legends initiative. This initiative also aims to address the current criminal activities happening in schools and communities at large – Drug Abuse, Killings, Suicide, Violence etc
It goes without saying that only women and girls have been getting attention and consideration as they are seen as more vulnerable to abuse, attacks and as well less privileged. What this world order fails to grasp is the fact that the boy child has the same or worse challenges as girls have. Campaigns to safe the girl child from this or the other are prevalent and dominate the social discourse.
There is a social phenomenon where the boy child is neglected and not embraced. Boys are the unsung heroes and they also face challenges, like mental harassment, rapes etc. Girls have all the social rights but boys have no hearings. Even their own parents sometimes seldom believe in them.” When you save the boy child from all these, by defending and fighting for his rights, you save a whole generation. That boy, upon growing up into a responsible man, father and husband, mentors his generation in the same way, all down his lineage hence the need to have initiatives where boys can me mentored and embraced by responsible men in communities.
