Entries open for Community Chest social innovation awards programme

The Community Chest Impumelelo Social Innovations Awards Programme (CCISIA) programme identifies, recognises and awards socially innovative initiatives in Africa. Applicants are invited to pre-apply to the awards programme, presenting innovative projects in various developmental sectors including, but not limited to; health, education, infrastructure and housing, income generation, social entrepreneurship, environment and conservation, arts and culture, and community development.

Those who are deemed compliant in terms of the Community Chest due diligence process will be invited to apply for the programme and go on to be evaluated further. Successful applicants will be exposed to a rigorous and independent evaluation and adjudication process, culminating in the CCISIA Awards Ceremony.

Exclusive networking opportunities

Award winners can benefit from exclusive networking opportunities with funders and project partners. The programme regularly submits the work of its award winners to the UN Public Service Awards and the Dubai International Awards for Best Practice, and 21 of its projects have won international awards. All applicants will also have the opportunity to participate in one or more of Community Chest’s existing programmes, focused on organisational capacitation and project incubation.

The pre-application process closes on Tuesday, 30 April at 4pm and the CCISIA Awards will be held on 10 November in Cape Town. Access the pre-application form here
