Love will be in the air this Valentine’s Day as Mdzananda Animal Clinic & Shelter invites the public to its Valentine’s Picnic for Paws, a special fundraising event in support of the animals of Khayelitsha.
Taking place on Saturday, 14 February 2026, from 10:00 to 14:00 at the picturesque Joostenberg Bistro & Deli, the event promises a relaxed and memorable picnic experience filled with good food, great company, and a meaningful cause. Guests are encouraged to attend with their partners, friends, families, or even solo, while enjoying a beautiful outdoor setting. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join their owners on the day.
Attendees can look forward to a selection of freshly prepared picnic baskets, including regular, vegan, single-adult, and children’s options. Drinks will be available for purchase at the venue, and guests will also have the opportunity to meet some of Mdzananda’s dogs currently up for adoption.
“Last year’s picnic was incredibly special, with a wonderful turnout from our supporters. Funds raised helped us to continue our vital work in the community,” says Kelly Arendse, Fundraiser and Event Organiser. “We’re so excited to welcome everyone back for our Valentine’s edition this year – a celebration of love, community and compassion for animals.”

They serve approximately 1500 animals per month through consultations, hospitilisation, operations, sterilisations, mobile clinics, an animal ambulance and adoptions. They have a strong focus on community education and inclusion to help pet owners become the best guardians they can be.
