Afrika Tikkun’s “Beauty in Ability” Disability Pageant

Afrika Tikkun proudly hosted its inaugural Disability Day of Celebrating Abilities on Friday, 11th July 2025, at Cirk in Cresta. This milestone event stands as a testament to Afrika Tikkun’s unwavering commitment to building a future of possibility, empowerment, and inclusion for all young people.

Under the leadership of Disability & Inclusion Head: Lana Roy, the event brought together youth, families, staff and partners in a vibrant celebration of ability, resilience, and community. The day’s theme, ‘Beauty in Ability’ echoed Afrika Tikkun’s core belief that every young person, regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to thrive.

The event created a platform for young people with disabilities to strengthen their personal identity, boost confidence and nurture self-worth.  Through moving stories and dynamic talent showcases, attendees were inspired to challenge societal attitudes and misconceptions about disability.

By positioning itself as a pioneer in inclusive youth development, Afrika Tikkun reinforced the importance of embracing diversity and fostering environments where everyone is valued.

“This day was about more than just celebration it was about recognising the strength, talent and potential within every young person, regardless of ability,” said Roy.

The success of the Disability Day of Celebrating Abilities sets a new benchmark for inclusive programming and community engagement at Afrika Tikkun. As the organisation continues to expand its impact, it remains dedicated to empowering youth, fostering hope, and building sustainable futures for all.
