On Wednesday 8 May 2024 at 1.00pm “The Heart of Cape Town” documentary will be premiered at We Are Africa (www.weareafricatravel.com).  Attended by over 900 people from all over the world, We Are Africa is the world’s most vibrant gathering of brands, the finest buyers and top international press. The premier of the documentary is the official launch of The Heart of Cape Town movement. The documentary was filmed and produced by Eric Gauss and Odette Van Rensburg www.dogsontherunproduction.com

 Talented local wire artist Laston Sachikonye and his team create the most beautiful pieces out of wire, including hearts of all sizes and colours. Thanks to donors of Uthando South Africa, literally thousands of these beautiful illuminating hearts have been distributed to a broad range of people all over South Africa, including community projects, activists, artists, educators, school children, politicians and celebrities. The Heart of Cape Town poignantly captures a few of these amazing South Africans who speak from their heart, after receiving their wire heart.

The Heart of South Africa – Wisdom for the world – Truth, Forgiveness and Reconciliation

South Africa is a country that can teach many lessons to the world at this crucial moment in human history, lessons about collective healing through Reflection, Truth, Forgiveness and Reconciliation. 

During recent international trade shows held in Cape Town, International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) and World Travel Market Africa (WTM), hundreds of little hearts were gifted to attendees from all over the world. Attached to each heart is a tag with the website of “The Heart of Cape Town” which contains a powerful and potent message of PEACE and LOVE for the world.

This week 6 May – 10 May the Heart of Cape Town is taking centre stage at We Are Africa with an installation covered in hearts, and many hundreds of people from all over world receiving little hearts.
