Masks and sanitisers donated to Pofadder & Pella schools

To help ensure the safety of community learners, Konkoonsies Solar Power has donated over 500 masks to learners, across three schools in the small towns of Pella and Pofadder. In a coordinated effort with the Namakwa District Education Office, based in Springbok, the solar plant has additionally provided an extensive range of sanitisers for the schools.

“We see it as critical that learners from our communities are as safe as possible, especially as COVID-19 infections are increasing in the Northern Cape areas,” explained Tsholofelo Moote, Economic Development Practitioner at Konkoonsies Solar Power.

The schools include Pella Primary and Boesmanland High, in Pella; as well as Francois Visser Primary, in Pofadder.

“Northern Cape schools have all reopened now, so helping to keep learners safe remains top of mind for us,” added Moote.

This community COVID-19 support, provided by Konkoonsies Solar Power, is another example of how the Province is receiving much needed assistance from the private sector. The solar plant recently funded personal protective equipment for distribution at Pofadder Community Health Centre, Pofadder Clinic, Onseepkans Clinic and Pella Clinic which see an average of 85 patients per
day.
