Mandela Day initiative supports two primary schools

Amidst much excitement this Mandela Day, over 100 learners from Emthanjeni Primary School and Zingisani Primary School, in De Aar, received brand new school uniforms.  The handover by De Aar Solar Power, that took place last week, made for a great celebration.

“We are very grateful for the assistance provided by the solar farm, as it creates a sense of unity amongst the learners. Also, the handover came at a great time as Karoo winters can get extremely cold and all of the learners are now equipped with the basics to keep them warm,” commented Vuyelwa Diamane, Principal at Emthanjeni Primary School.

Each school received 80 uniform packs, 40 girls and 40 boys, for the school to distribute at their discretion, as part of De Aar Solar Power’s Socio-Economic Development programme.

“We believe that a child is developed and shaped by the community surrounding them. The whole point of providing education for anyone, is to develop and shape their character in order to advance and realise their true potential. Our role is to positively influence those surrounding us, and this school uniform support is an indicator of that commitment,” concluded Siphe Kulu, Health, Safety and Environment Specialist for De Aar Solar Power.
