KZN Department of Education Nears Completion of LTSM Delivery for 2025 School Year

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education has made significant strides in ensuring that schools across the province are fully equipped for the 2025 academic year. With nearly 99% of textbooks already delivered to 4,174 schools and 76% of the required stationery distributed, the Department is on track to complete the delivery of Learning and Teaching Support Materials (LTSM) by 10 January 2025.

Despite this progress, certain areas have faced security challenges that have delayed deliveries. As a result, schools in these affected regions will receive their materials between 12 and 17 January 2025. The Department is collaborating with law enforcement agencies to guarantee the safety of both personnel and resources during this period.

In addition to textbooks and stationery, the Department is addressing issues related to the Norms and Standards allocation, ensuring that all schools are properly equipped to provide quality education. This is part of a broader effort to maintain and improve learning environments across the province.

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Education, Sipho Hlomuka, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the success and well-being of every learner in the province. “We are focused on delivering the necessary resources to enable teaching and learning to take place on the first day of school,” Hlomuka said. “Our priority remains ensuring that no learner is left behind.”

The Department also thanked school management teams, educators, and local communities for their cooperation throughout the delivery process, which will ensure a smooth start to the new school year.
