Adventist development and relief agency Zimbabwe (ADRA) has donated personal protection equipment to primary schools in preparation for the opening of schools on 28 July in Gutu Masvingo.
In an interview with Zimpapers in Harare, ADRA district coordinator Gospel Chingwaru said there are ten schools in remote areas which have benefitted from the PPE donation for both students and teachers.
However, acting minister of health and child care professor Amon Murwira yesterday said the re-opening of schools shall be deferred pending a review of the situation of COVID-19, while the writing of public examinations continues.
ADRA is a humanitarian agency operated by the Seventh-Day Adventist church for the purpose of providing individual and community development and disaster relief.
Commenting further on the donation Chingwaru said: “We delivered PPEs material to schools in preparation for opening of schools on 28 July. The donations included sanitizers and masks. We understand how crucial the situation is for everyone in the country at the moment. It is our duty as churches and organisations to step in and fill the gap where we can. If we cannot reach out to the vulnerable at such times then the character of Christ is not reproduced in us because Christ would give all for us. ”
