Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa (CHOC) IS celebrating its 40th birthday this year and Clover Nutrikids announced that fundraising is in full swing for the purchasing and refurbishing of a new Clover Nutrikids CHOC House in Port Elizabeth.
The CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation was established in 1979 by parents of children with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders. Their aim was to ease the burden on parents and families facing the same journey by providing access to relevant, accurate information, as well as emotional and practical support. The foundation provides a home for these families whose children are affected by cancer and eliminates the need to travel long distances from home to receive treatment. Furthermore, CHOC has 13 accommodation facilities which are close to treatment centres.
“Our work is important because cancer in children is a rare disease. When patients come to the hospital from different parts of the country they don’t have accommodation and CHOC provides accommodation to the children, when they are undergoing treatment at Red Cross Hospital said, Dr Marc Hendricks. The foundation relies on corporate sponsors and donations from groups or individuals wanting to make a difference in the lives of children with cancer. Fundraising will continue into 2020 with the purchase of any Clover Nutrikids product contributing towards the purchasing and furnishing of the new home.
