Bellville’s fourth annual business expo will connect small enterprises with investors, clients and markets, helping local entrepreneurs build stronger businesses and create jobs across Cape Town.
The Bellville Business Expo returns on Wednesday, 28 October and Thursday, 29 October 2026 at the Tyger Valley Centre Arena, bringing local entrepreneurs into direct contact with potential customers, funders, investors and business support organisations.
Now in its fourth year, the expo is designed around a simple economic-development principle: small businesses grow faster when they have access not only to funding, but also to markets, networks and strategic relationships.
Hosted by the City-funded Greater Tygerberg Partnership, together with Tyger Valley Centre, the event forms part of the “better. bellville.together.” initiative and places local small and medium-sized enterprises at the centre of Bellville’s economic-development strategy.
For participating businesses, the opportunity extends beyond displaying products or services.
The expo creates an environment where entrepreneurs can build relationships with potential clients, suppliers, investors and service providers while gaining visibility in one of Cape Town’s most significant commercial nodes.
“The Bellville Business Expo has become an important tool for entrepreneurs and developing enterprises to connect with investors, funders, clients, and service providers,” said Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth.
Bellville occupies an important position in Cape Town’s economy.
According to the City, it is the second-largest office node in the metropolitan area after the Cape Town CBD. The broader Northern Suburbs region hosts approximately 3 500 small and medium-sized enterprises, 250 industrial businesses, nine tertiary institutions and 10 hospitals.
That concentration of businesses, institutions and potential customers creates an opportunity to build stronger local supply chains and encourage more economic activity to remain within the region.
The expo also demonstrates how public-private partnerships can contribute to enterprise development.
Through its Economic Growth Directorate, the City supports the Greater Tygerberg Partnership’s work around place-making, urban regeneration, investment promotion and collaboration between the public and private sectors.
One of the groups participating in this year’s expo will be entrepreneurs from the Bellville Connect Level Up Programme.
The four-month business development programme is designed to help entrepreneurs strengthen their operations, grow their customer bases and position their businesses for new opportunities.
By combining training with direct market exposure, the programme moves beyond classroom-based enterprise development and creates a pathway for participants to apply what they have learned in a commercial environment.
That matters because one of the biggest challenges facing emerging businesses is often not the absence of ideas, but access to customers, procurement opportunities and trusted networks.
When those gaps are reduced, small businesses have a greater opportunity to become sustainable employers and contributors to local economic growth.
“Through the City’s support for and work with the GTP, we are nurturing and empowering a base of small businesses to employ more Capetonians, boost their bottom line and become the big corporations of tomorrow,” Vos said.
The expo also remains open to businesses that are not participating in the Level Up Programme.
A limited number of exhibition stands are still available and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
For Bellville, the wider opportunity lies in creating an ecosystem where small businesses are not treated as peripheral players, but as central participants in economic development.
Supporting SMMEs through visibility, networks, skills development and market access creates shared value: entrepreneurs gain opportunities to grow, while the wider economy benefits from stronger local businesses, new employment and increased investment.
Visitor entrance to the Bellville Business Expo is free, although space is limited.
