City Axes Contractor After Bribery Scandal

The City of Cape Town has terminated all contracts with Triple C Maintenance and Services after the company’s owner allegedly attempted to bribe the City Manager.

The decision follows a joint investigation by the City’s Ethics and Forensics Department and the South African Police Service (SAPS). Working with SAPS in a controlled operation, the City Manager assisted in an investigation that led to the arrest of the business owner.

In response, the City moved swiftly to cancel all municipal contracts held by the company. The affected work largely involves construction-related services, including road maintenance, resurfacing and stormwater infrastructure projects.

Officials said the move reflects the City’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and warned that any attempts to improperly influence municipal officials would be met with firm action.

To avoid service disruptions, the City confirmed that alternative arrangements have been put in place while processes are under way to appoint replacement contractors or activate standby suppliers.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing as the City continues efforts to uphold accountability and maintain ethical standards across municipal operations.
