Pupils and teachers from the Ron Clark Academy (RCA) went viral after they shared a video of themselves partaking in the #GetLooseChallenge. The challenge sees people on social media dancing along to a song titled Get Loose by Huncho Da Rockstar and K. Blasst. The learners were also joined by the founder of RCA,Ron Clark who was in sync with the kids. The dance video reached over 7 million views on Twitter in less than a week.
The Ron Clark Academy (RCA) is a highly-acclaimed, nonprofit middle school located in Atlanta. The Academy has received both national and international recognition for its success in educating students with academic rigour, passion, and creativity balanced by a strict code of discipline.
The Academy seeks to extend its reach beyond its student body by having an impact upon students everywhere.RCA pupils recently visited Soweto and delivered supplies and diapers to orphanages and schools. Collectively, they raised $21,000 this year through bake sales in order to have the donated items.
In the past nine years, more than 38,000 superintendents, district-level administrators, and teachers from 42 states and 22 countries have participated in the RCA Experience to learn better ways to engage students, promote academic rigour and create a culture that promotes success.“At RCA we’re all about building relationships and finding connections with our students. We love music, energy and passion in the classroom, so we’re always dancing.
The video is a positive representation for what school and education can be when pupils and teachers build strong relationships,” said Kirk Brown, Senior Director of Development at RCA.
Naima Johnson, a pupil at the school, says she has taken a lot away from this trip. “Each day, there’s something new; we’re always going to different schools, and each school brings a different type of passion and energy. I think that I speak for the whole class when I say that we’re walking away from this experience with a new perspective on the privileges that we may have, and what it truly means to be happy regardless of your situation,” said Johnson.
